Breastfeeding reduces risk of autism

Breastfeeding your child will help reduce the risk of autism.

However, it is critical that the mother detoxify her own body as far in advance of conception as possible. Remember, the food that you put into your body does pass through to your baby when you nurse them. Therefore, it’s important to make sure that the food that you are eating is safe for your nursing baby.

Most doctors recommend a 6 month lead time, to detoxify your body before you start breastfeeding, but you can start now if you're already pregnant and still get great benefits.

If breastfeeding is absolutely not possible, then use non-casein (non-milk based) formula. If your baby has a severe milk allergy, hypoallergenic is preferred, as many kids with milk allergies are also allergic to soy.

A great resource on breastfeeding is La Leche League
